French jockey Thomas Huet to return home

French jockey Thomas Huet will return to his homeland after an almost four-year stint in Australia where he rode 183 winners including a Group Three victory on Artistry.

Huet arrived in January 2013 and rode across NSW, picking up rides for trainers Gai Waterhouse and Paul Perry.

He won his first Australian stakes race aboard the Waterhouse-trained Queenstown in the Listed Winter Stakes in July 2013 and rode the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Artistry eight times for six wins including this year’s Newmarket Handicap at Rosehill.

Huet finished his Australian stint a winner, booting home the Cody Morgan-trained Art D’Amour in his final ride at Newcastle on Saturday before he returns to France to continue his career.
