The Fremantle Dockers will look to secure their third consecutive victory this Saturday at Optus Stadium, where they will host an unpredictable Hawthorn Hawks in round 13 of the AFL season.
Following Melbourne’s two back-to-back losses in the last fortnight, the Dockers are very close to sitting level at the top of the AFL ladder, as they currently sit just one win behind the leaders.
Sam Mitchell’s Hawks have won just one of their last five contests and have quickly dropped out of the top eight contention, but you can never count them out of a match due to their erratic form.
The last three weeks have been a rollercoaster for the Hawks; they beat the Lions in a thriller down in Tassie, lost to the Suns by a massive 67-points and almost beat the Magpies but just fell short.
Justin Longmuir’s Fremantle have gone above and beyond most expectations leading into the season, but the team is only going to get better with the imminent return of Nat Fyfe, Matthew Taberner and Sam Switkowski.
Fyfe pulled up well after his WAFL debut with the Peel Thunder and should be right to play, which would add a two-time Brownlow Medallist to one of the hottest teams in the league.
Although it will not be an easy match for Hawthorn, there is every chance the young side can pull off an upset this Saturday, making this contest a must-see affair.

Key matchup: Andrew Brayshaw vs Tom Mitchell
A young Brownlow Medal contender and a previous recipient will go head-to-head this Saturday as Andrew Brayshaw and Tom Mitchell collide in the middle of Optus Stadium. Brayshaw is making a name for himself as one of the best two-way runners in the competition, as he works extremely hard both ways and racks up plenty of damaging disposals.
Some pundits would claim Tom Mitchell’s disposals are far from dangerous, but he still knows how to get his hands on the footy and dish it out to teammates in better positions. Brayshaw and Mitchell may have different playing styles, but it will be important to watch which star impacts more in the middle, as it could ultimately decide the match.
Fremantle vs Hawthorn betting strategy
The inconsistent Hawks are very hard to tip, as they show up one week and then fail to fire a shot the next. One road trip that is extremely difficult is heading to Western Australia to take on the Dockers, but we feel like this is the type of danger game where the Hawks can attempt a miracle. We are backing in Sam Mitchell’s youngsters to get close to the Premiership contenders, but we expect Fremantle will be too hard to beat.
Hawthorn (+31.5)
Fremantle vs Hawthorn AFL goalscorer betting tips
One of the most interesting players on the Dockers’ list is Bailey Banfield up forward, as the workhorse prospect manages to play a role and impact the scoreboard most weeks. Mainly known for his pressure acts and endurance, Banfield is not the most dynamic player, yet he continues to put through classy goals in a stacked forward line. Banfield will kick another pair of goals this week following his mini-bag of four in round 12.
Bailey Banfield 2+ goals
Fremantle vs Hawthorn AFL same-game multi tips
We are tipping Andrew Brayshaw to win the midfield battle and lead the disposal count in this Saturday’s close contest, with Bailey Banfield to bob up with another couple of goals for the Dockers.
Hawthorn (+31.5) / Brayshaw 30+ disposals / Banfield 2+ goals
