Forster to rely on Too Good To Refuse
Group Three winner Cylinder Beach’s comeback has been delayed another week with trainer Desleigh Forster relying on Too Good To Refuse in the Listed Keith Noud Quality at Eagle Farm.
Cylinder Beach, who is now raced by a syndicate headed by long term Forster client Norm Mayne, was to run at Doomben last Saturday.
However, his race was abandoned after heavy rain flooded the course.
Forster entered Cylinder Beach for the $100,000 Keith Noud (1200m) and a 2MW race on Saturday but did not accept.
“I have been able to work him and he is doing well. There is a 1400 metre race at Eagle Farm on Saturday week and he is ready to race well first-up even at that trip,” Forster said.
Cylinder Beach, who beat Too Good To Refuse in the Gunsynd Classic last season, will have a light summer.
“There are a few options but the most likely target is the Bernborough Stakes on New Years Eve,” she said.
Forster said Cylinder Beach would have to race well next week for her to consider a trip to Sydney for the Group Two Villiers (1600m) on December 16.
The trainer is however pleased with Too Good To Refuse who turned in an eye-catching run for second at Doomben two weeks ago.
“He ran very close to 32 seconds for his final 600 metres at the end of an 1100 metre race which was very good indeed,” Forster said.
“He had to come down the outside from near last and I have been waiting to get him on a big track like Eagle Farm.
“Too Good to Refuse is second-up but there will be a solid pace and that suits him. Also while this is a Listed race it doesn’t look much stronger than last time.”
Forster plans to run Too Good To Refuse in the summer sprint races – the George Moore Stakes and Lough Neagh Stakes – in the lead-up to the Bernborough Stakes.
“He will be kept to the shorter races these days after we tried him over more ground and he probably didn’t stay,” she said.
Jim Byrne is back from a suspension and a short holiday to take the ride on Too Good To Refuse.
“Jim has been riding him work and was keen to stick with him,” Forster said.
