Flemington ban for French jockey Peslier
Visiting French jockey Olivier Peslier is free to ride Tiberian in the Melbourne Cup despite a suspension on two careless riding charges at Flemington.
The suspensions stem from separate incidents in the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes on Saturday in which he rode Godolphin galloper Malahat.
He was suspended for 11 meetings for causing interference to The Mission and Houtzen near the 1000m and another 11 meetings for causing interference to Eptimum and Jukebox near the 900m.
The penalties will be served concurrently, starting after Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup meeting.
Ryan Maloney was harshest hit, with a 12-meeting ban out of the Coolmore Stakes for interference at the 300m aboard Eptimum.
Mark Zahra will miss Group One rides on the final day of the Flemington carnival, including Gailo Chop in the Emirates Stakes and Rock Magic in the Darley Classic, after being outed for 10 meetings for careless riding in the Wakeful Stakes.
Stephen Baster was fined $3000 after winning on Cismontane and Jye McNeil $1000 after finishing third on Pentathlon for whip breaches in the Lexus Stakes.
Patrick Moloney was fined $500 for his victory salute before the winning post aboard Rich Charm in the TAB Multiplier Stakes.
