Filly Plucks up courage following fall

Country trainer Sharyn Trolove will make a rare trip to the city when three-year-old She’s A Pluck runs at Moonee Valley.

The filly runs against her own age group in a 1000m-handicap on Saturday coming off a last-start maiden victory at Moe.

She’s A Pluck has been a consistent performer throughout her six-start career.

The only time she hasn’t picked up a cheque was when she fell at Bairnsdale in December which meant a four-month absence from the racetrack.

Trolove says that fall has turned She’s A Pluck into a tougher filly.

“She was sore for a couple of weeks and the rest of her break was to get her over it mentally,” Trolove said.

“She was always very timid and scared of other horses before the fall and I thought it would have ruined her confidence, but it’s actually made her a lot stronger.

“She now puts her ears back and pushes over to other horses and moves them out of the way.”

Trolove will be chasing her second metropolitan success on Saturday after God Help Her’s victory at Sandown in 2011.

With three horses in work from a stable that usually has between six and 10, Trolove had She’s A Pluck and stablemate Little Jimmy engaged at Mornington on Monday.

But following a trip to the Gold Coast last week where she bought a couple of horses at the Magic Millions sale, Trolove decided to wait and start She’s A Pluck at Moonee Valley instead.

“I wasn’t sure how well the horses were working and that was the reason I scratched them from Mornington,” she said.

“I’ll be home in time for Saturday to make sure I’m happy with the horse running at Moonee Valley.

“She’s an honest little thing. She’s not a champion but tries hard and I think she’ll be a good little horse as she gets older.

“The race should be ideal if she draws all right.”

Craig Newitt, who has ridden the filly at her past three starts, again takes the ride on Saturday.

Trolove also has Tycoon Felix entered for two 1200m races on Saturday but indicated the three-time winner would be reserved for another day.
