Fashionistas brace for cool Melbourne Cup
Fashionistas and famous faces have begun flocking to the Flemington Birdcage for the most colourful, but chilly, day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.
Among the first to arrive were TV personalities Rebecca Judd, Lauren Phillips and Jodi Anasta, apparently immune to the temperature, wearing bold shades of pink.
Face of Myer Jennifer Hawkins, was more weather appropriate, donning a coat over her full-skirted Alex Perry dress.
“I called a jacket in last minute, it’s just too cold,” she told AAP.
Away from the warmth of the invite-only marquees, jackets may be the popular trend as punters brace for the coldest race weather in more than a decade.
The temperature is forecast to reach a top of 16C on Tuesday, with the Melbourne Cup due to run at 3pm.
