F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024 racing tips & betting predictions

F1 Azerbaijan betting preview

Following Ferrari’s one-stop masterclass at the Baku Grand Prix, round 17 of the Formula 1 season kicks off this weekend with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

With Free Practice 1 set to start at 8:30pm AEST on Friday, September 13, while the race is set for 10pm AEST Sunday, September 5.

Formula 1 Azerbaijan GP race preview

After the Monza GP, we see Ferrari re-emerge into the Constructors Championship race in 3rd position on 407 points, McLaren on 438, and Red Bull Racing on 446 points.

This weekend we could see a team overtake Red Bull Racing in the constructors for the first time since the 2022 Barcelona GP in May.

Although McLaren appeared to be the stronger contender at the Monza GP, it was Ferrari that ended on top at the end of the 53 laps in Italy.

McLaren remains dominant overall and aims to challenge Red Bull Racing on the standings in Baku.

That said, Mercedes shouldn’t be counted out. With valuable insights on new flooring and upgrades, they’ll be looking for their fourth win of the season.

If Hamilton sharpens his qualifying performance, there’s no reason he can’t take victory here.

2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix F1 Odds

Following the Italian GP, it’s no surprise to see Charles Leclerc’s odds shorten, coming off a strong win. However, the Papaya team owns the shortest odds with the leading F1 bookmakers due to their recent dominance.

2024 F1 Azerbaijan Betting Predictions

Oscar Piastri to win

Oscar Piastri at $5.50 is a must. Currently driving better then teammate Lando Norris, he will be very let down after almost winning in Monza and hunting that 2nd career win with the best car on the grid. McLaren has the fastest car in every aspect, and the value of +450 is very hard to pass on with Neds.

Lewis Hamilton podium finish

Either of the Mercedes cars, with both paying +300 at PlayUp for a podium finish is great value yet again. Mercedes will be coming here with an upgraded spec of their car and are believed to have taken off the “upgraded” floor after a disappointing performance from it. Both drivers will be looking for more. With George’s race decided by damage from turn 1 and Hamilton’s poor Qualifying performance, look towards Lewis Hamilton to redeem himself and make it onto the podium following the race on Sunday.

Nico Hulkenberg points finish

For the shorter odd punters, Nico Hulkenberg is paying +110 for a points finish at Bet365. Hulkenberg will be upset with the race in Monza, and with Haas being a consistent points scorer this season, a nice double up at +110 cannot be complained about.
