Where Bramall Lane, Sheffield

Round three of the 2022 Rugby League World Cup continues with host nation England taking on Greece from Bramall Lane in Sheffield. England have shocked experts and fans alike so far this World Cup delivering enormous defeats to Samoa and France to start their campaign. Greece have showed against France they have some defensive drive but were blown out by Samoa in their last start and will be looking to avoid the same defeat to England.

The English have made several changes to rest key players as they look towards the final’s series with Elliot Whitehead, Herbie Farnworth, Kallum Watkins and Sam Tomkins all being rested. This sees Jack Welsby shift to fullback, John Bateman into the centres, Marc Sneyd into the halves and Mike McMeeken into the back row.

For Greece, Billy Magoulias, Chaise Robinson, Myles Gal and Nikolaos Bosmos have all been left out of the side with Kostantinos Katsidonis, Ioannis Rousoglou, Jordan Meads and Mitchell Zampetides all coming into the starting seventeen.

England may have made multiple changes to their starting side, but they are still going to be a much classier outfit than Greece. They may struggle to find cohesion and fluency in their attack, but class and individual ability will get them over the line. England should go on to win this match comfortably by 31-40 points paying $10 with Palmerbet.

Ryan Hall continued to show again last weekend why he is one of, if not the best, try scorer England has ever produced. Hall had two tries in the first 11 minutes last week against a French side that was in the fight and fought right to the end. Greece is not expected to put up as much of a fight this weekend, but Hall is expected to be England’s main target in attack. Should England hit their target, Hall can bag a hat-trick paying $4.75.

Jack Welsby and John Bateman will both be playing out of position on Sunday but have shown over their careers they are a class above most on the rugby league field. Welsby especially has impressed many this World Cup and has all the hallmarks of a fullback who can attack relentlessly. For Bateman, he has the footwork, skill, and speed to make it in the outside backs. Should both players get half an opportunity they can take it and score a try each paying $1.28 and $1.40 respectively with the top betting sites.

KEY MATCH UP: GEORGE WILLIAMS v LACHLAN ILIAS

The match up of these two halfbacks will be one to watch as they can be very similar players. Williams’s role in his side is to lead England around the park, making sure they’re in the right positions at the right times to score, and that’s exactly what he has done so far this World Cup. This will also be the role of Ilias, and the quality of his game will be pivotal in Greece’s chance of success. Ilias will need to have an almost perfect game, leading the way with his game management and kicking, as well as leading and directing his vocally to lift the Greeks towards a win over England.
