Dyson Daniels becomes youngest to 200 steals in NBA

NBA Dyson Daniels Youngest player to 200+steals

Australian NBA rising star Dyson Daniels has made history, becoming the youngest player to ever record 200 steals in a single season and breaking a record previously held by the great Magic Johnson.

Daniels reached the milestone during Atlanta’s 132-119 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, collecting five steals to take his season tally to 202.

At just 21, the man dubbed the ‘Great Barrier Thief’ eclipsed Johnson’s mark by 236 days, setting a new benchmark for defensive brilliance.

Playing for the Atlanta Hawks, Daniels has emerged as a defensive force in his third NBA season, averaging a staggering three steals per game.

With 12 regular-season games remaining, the Aussie guard is within striking distance of some of the greatest defensive seasons in league history — even with Atlanta at long odds to win the NBA Championship at $126 with BetOnline.

He needs just 15 more to pass Chris Paul’s 216 steals from the 2008-09 campaign and could even surpass legends like Scottie Pippen (232 in 1995), Michael Jordan (221 in 1993), and all-time record-holder John Stockton, who recorded 244 steals in 1992.

NBA fans and coaches alike are taking notice. Golden State coach Steve Kerr, after witnessing Daniels firsthand, called him a “wrecking crew”.

“Great hands, great anticipation,” Kerr said.

“He’s for sure First Team All-Defence and right in the mix for DPOY.”

Daniels is $14 with top online bookmakers to secure Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024/25 NBA season.
