Downloading back up to speed for Heathcote
Downloading will never match the deeds of his big brother Buffering but he is now back on his way to being a more than handy horse.
Downloading ($7) led all the way to score his third race win at Ipswich on Wednesday.
The gelding is by Love Conquers All out of Action Annie, making him a three-quarter brother to seven times Group One winner Buffering.
Downloading races in the same colours as Buffering with many of the same owners involved.
“Downloading won his first race start and his first campaign was good but he didn’t come back last to time,” Heathcote said.
“But we changed his gear with a nose roll and he has won both his starts this time.
“He will never be a Buffering but he reminds a little bit of the champ.
“He showed a bit of attitude today and that is like Buffering used to be.”
Heathcote is about to make a trip to Egypt but hopes Downloading can head to city Saturday racing in his absence.
Group One-winning jockey Jason Taylor made the most of his one ride for the day to win on Kostanos ($7.50).
“When they let me walk in front for much of the race he was always going to be hard to beat,” Taylor said.
Taylor, who won the 2011 Group One Stradbroke Handicap, these days travels around the Queensland southeast corner and northern rivers for rides.
