Delhi favourites in IPL 2025 title betting after upsetting RCB

Indian Premier League T20 cricket news

Cricket betting sites have Delhi Capitals as favourites to win the 2025 IPL title after they beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday morning (AEST).

Coming into the match, RCB topped outright betting markets and were favoured at PlayUp to defeat DC for their fourth win of the season.

However, the spin of Vipraj Nigam (2/18) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/17) restricted the hosts to 163/7 from their 20 overs, which proved no issue for Delhi to chase down as wicketkeeper KL Rahul made an unbeaten 93 from 53 balls.

Bengaluru made a blistering start through openers Phil Salt (37 from 17) and Virat Kohli (22 from 14), going at almost two runs a ball — including 30 in one over — across the first three and a half overs.

But the brakes came on suddenly when Salt was run out in the fourth over, with the run-rate drying up and wickets beginning to flow instead.

Rajat Patidar (25 from 23) tinkered away in the middle order but was unable to get on top of Delhi’s spin, and it wasn’t until Tim David (37 from 20) came to the crease late in the innings that RCB got any real flow.

DC struggled initially in their pursuit of RCB’s target, losing Faf du Plessis (2 from 7), Jake Fraser-McGurk (7 from 6) and Abishek Porel (7 from 7) inside the first five overs.

Rahul stemmed the bleeding, however, taking on DC’s bowlers and finding company from Axar Patel (15 from 11) and then Tristan Stubbs (38* from 23), putting on an unbeaten 111-run stand with the latter to seal the win with 13 balls remaining.

The result takes DC to top of the IPL 2025 ladder with four wins from four matches as they shorten to $4.50 to win the competition.

“Everyone is playing with confidence,” captain Patel shared afterwards.

“When we won three in three, thought that four out of four could also be possible.

“We talk about matchups and what is happening off the surface.

“I felt they like to face pacers, so tried to hold them back.

“Then the ball was spinning and bouncing, so thought of bowling spin in the powerplay.”
