A TIMELINE OF DAVID HAYES AND HIS RACING ACHIEVEMENTS

* 1983 – At age 21, David joins Lindsay Park full time and works alongside his Hall of Fame racing trainer Colin as assistant trainer

* 1990 -1991 – Took over the training operation at Lindsay Park at the start of the racing season – aged 28 – following Colin’s retirement

* 1990 – Sets a world record of six Group winners at Flemington on Derby Day

* 1990 – Wins the Cox Plate and the Japan Cup with Better Loosen Up

* 1991 – Wins the Australian Cup with Better Loosen Up

* 1991-1992 – Trained an Australian Record 306 winners

* 1993 – Fraar wins Caulfield Cup

* 1994 – Wins the Melbourne Cup with imported stayerr Jeune

* 1996 – 2005 – Accepts an invitation to train in Hong Kong – where he won two trainer’s premierships and trained 458 winners

* 2005 – After nearly a decade he returns from Hong Kong to Lindsay Park

* 2006 – 2007 – Hayes’s horses win 11 Group One races and more than $19 million in prize money

* 2008 – Became the youngest person to be inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, joining his father Colin

* 2008 – Sells his share of Lindsay Park Stud – renamed Cornerstone Stud – to his nephew Sam Hayes and business partner

* 2010 – Lindsay Park moves from South Australia to Victoria with a new purpose-built facility established at Euroa

* 2015 – Spillway wins the Australian Cup, and Criterion wins the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Caulfield Stakes

* September 2019 – Confirms his return to the Hong Kong ranks for the start of the 2020-21 racing season

* July 13 2020 – Hayes’s Hong Kong Jockey Club licence will become effective.
