David Brideoake has been charged after Princess Jenni’s race day scratching from a race at Randwick.

Victorian trainer David Brideoake has been hit with two charges by NSW stewards relating to race day treatment after an inquiry into the late scratching of Princess Jenni from the Adrian Knox Stakes.

Racing NSW stewards ordered the withdrawal of Princess Jenni from the Adrian Knox at Randwick on April 6 after an on-course veterinary inspection raised suspicion the filly may have been treated on race day.

An inquiry was held last month and stewards on Wednesday issued Brideoake with two charges.

Brideoake has been charged with injecting, or causing to be injected, a horse on race day, which is against the rules.

The second charge is for administration of a medication on race day.

A hearing into the charges is scheduled for June 17.

After her withdrawal from the Adrian Knox, a traditional lead-up race to the Group One Australian Oaks in Sydney a week later, Princess Jenni’s campaign was redirected.

The filly won at Caulfield on April 20 before claiming the Group One Australasian Oaks (2000m) in Adelaide two weeks later.

Princess Jenni was unplaced as favourite in last Saturday’s Queensland Oaks.
