Corey Brown back for more Australian G1s

Singapore-based Australian jockey Corey Brown will find himself at home at over the next few weeks with Group One rides in Sydney and Melbourne.

Brown rode at Caulfield on Saturday in between commitments at Kranji on Friday night and again on Sunday.

He returns to Australia to ride Heavens Above for trainer Tim Martin in the Epsom Handicap at Randwick on Saturday and will be back in Melbourne the following weekend for the first day of the three-day Caulfield Cup carnival.

Brown partnered Revolving Door into second behind Sacred Elixir in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude on Saturday and has a booking to ride the three-year-old in the Caulfield Guineas on October 8.

The jockey believes the extra 200m will suit Revolving Door who was strong past the finish line.

The Clinton McDonald-trained Revolving Door raced in blinkers for the first time on Saturday and Brown recommended the colt wear a visor in the Caulfield Guineas.

“I gave him a squeeze from the gates and when he got up near the lead it took me two furlongs (400m) to get him to come back underneath me,” Brown said.

“When he got to the front in the straight he was then stargazing, his ears were twitching and he wasn’t concentrating.

“I’ve suggested he wear a visor in the Guineas as he had the blinkers on for the first time and didn’t see the other horses coming.

“Once they got past him he responded again and was strong on pulling up.”

Revolving Door will be lining up for the fifth run of his campaign in the Caulfield Guineas with Saturday’s Prelude performance showing he is on target.

Revolving Door has won one of his seven starts and finished third behind Seaburge in the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington last autumn.

Heavens Above will back up from her midfield finish in Saturday’s Group Two Golden Pendant won by Tycoon Tara.

Brown has picked up another Group One ride and will be aboard the Kris Lees-trained Sense Of Occasion in the Metropolitan Handicap (2400m).
