Consolation double for Busuttin and Young

Rich Hips wins at Sandown.
Rich Hips has given co-trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young a Sandown double.

A good day at the office could have been even bigger with a slice of luck for former New Zealand trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young.

A Sandown double on Wednesday was small consolation for a bigger prize in Sydney that slipped through their grasp.

Larimer Street was beaten a length into third place in the $2 million Inglis Millennium at Warwick Farm ahead of a longshot Sandown double courtesy of Gazzara ($10) and Rich Hips ($21).

“I’ve been nauseous all day,” Young said of Larimer Street’s defeat at the hands of Prime Star and Bella Nipotina.

“It was just one of those things and a nano-second later that gap opened up and had he poked through it, who knows.

“Glen Boss came in and said he was a bit unlucky and probably should have won.

“I would have taken the $2 million win to be honest, but to get a city double is a nice consolation.

“At least it shows when Trent goes away I can still get the job done here.”

Young’s sister Tania Booth will have extra reason to celebrate the long-shot double at Sandown.

“It’s her big 50 today and I said we might have a punt today and get to Vegas,” Young said.

“We’re half-way there. It’s been a great day.”

Young said Rich Hips was likely to return to Sandown in a fortnight’s time before a potential rise to stakes company in the Group Two Kewney Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on March 7.
