Composed Jadentom on song for Doomben win

Trainer Lindsay Hatch knew his mare Jadentom would be hard to beat by her calm attitude behind the barriers at Doomben.

He was proved right when Jadentom ($26) finished strongly to beat Mishani Hustler ($9) by 1-1/4 lengths in the TAB Handicap (1110m).

Hatch said Jadentom was a talented mare but could be her own worst enemy on race day.

“She can get agitated behind the barriers and that is what happened first-up. She ran her race before the start,” he said.

“But today she was nice and calm. She was able to get a sit off the speed and the. She can be very powerful at the finish.”

Jadentom has now won 10 races and more than $250,000 for Hatch.

“She is a real family horse who is named after my kids Jade and Tom,” he said.

“She has been great for us in the past few years.

“I would love to win my home town feature sprint if the Weetwood In September. It is the race we will be aiming at now.”

Winning jockey Andrew Mallyon said Jadentom had relished the heavy track and would be even better at slightly further in distance.
