Commanders v Bengals game preview
The Cincinnati Bengals will be looking for their first win of the 2024 NFL season when they host the Washington Commanders on Tuesday (AEST).
Washington bounced back from a disappointing loss in Week 1 with a three-point win over the New York Giants last Sunday. Despite a disjointed offensive performance, kicker Austin Seibert was a standout with seven field goals.
Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is slowly adjusting to life in the NFL, although he is yet to throw for a touchdown. Things are no better on the other side of the ball, as the Commanders have the fifth-worst defensive record in the league.
The Commanders could be without defensive trio Clelin Ferrell, Johnny Newton and Emmanuel Forbes, who didn’t participate in training this week.
The Bengals have also had a rough start to the season, with losses to the Patriots and Chiefs. However, it was a much-improved performance last Sunday in Kansas City, where they only fell to a game-winning field goal as time expired.
After losing running back Joe Mixon in the off-season, Cincinnati have struggled on the ground. In the air, however, quarterback Joe Burrow continues to perform.
Star wide receiver Tee Higgins is a chance to play his first game of the season for Cincinnati, but there are concerns around B.J. Hill and Sheldon Rankins, who did not train.
Commanders v Bengals predictions
After their improved performance against the Chiefs, it is only a matter of time before the Bengals get back to winning ways. Washington’s QB has struggled so far, and the Cincinnati defense is full of play-makers. Back the Bengals to cover -6.5 points at -131.58 with top online bookmakers.
Off-season recruit Mike Gesicki has been the Bengals’ No.1 target so far, accumulating 109 yards on 10 receptions. Given Burrow’s willingness to find the tigh end, he offers great value to find the endzone at +250 with BetOnline.
