Bulldogs v Titans match preview

Super Saturday football for round three of the NRL Premiership kicks off in the Canterbury Bulldogs’ spiritual home of Belmore Oval when they host the Gold Coast Titans.

Both sides are yet to record a win this season and the Titans are coming off the bye. The Bulldogs have started the season with heavy defeats to the Parramatta Eels and Cronulla Sharks.

Titans coach Des Hasler welcomes five-eighth Kieran Foran back into the starting side for Thomas Weaver, with Jamin Jolliffe named to start at lock. That pushes Isaac Liu and Keenan Palasia back to the interchange bench.

Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo has been forced to make one change after front-rower Poasa Faamausili suffered a concussion last week. Liam Knight has been named to start in the front row in an otherwise unchanged line-up.

Bulldogs v Titans predictions

The Bulldogs have lost each of their last six matches, as well as three of their last five against the Titans. The return of Foran to the halves will be enormous for the visitors, who have a much stronger forward pack on paper. Expect the Titans to cause a minor upset and beat the Bulldogs as +105 outsiders with online bookmakers.

Phillip Sami had an incredible season for the Titans in 2023, scoring 11 tries off the back of 13 line breaks and an average of more than 170 run metres per game. Sami loves playing the Bulldogs, as he has scored a try in each of his last five games against them. Given his recent history, +140 is great value for Sami to score at any time.

The injury to star winger Josh Addo-Carr has thrust Canterbury youngster Blake Wilson into the spotlight. Wilson has scored a try in each of his two matches this season, along with four tries from his last five matches. At their home ground, the Bulldogs should be able to create enough for Wilson to cross the line at any time as a -129.87 chance.
