Brad Rawiller cops Mornington suspension
Jockey Brad Rawiller has been suspended for nine meetings at Mornington.
Jockey Brad Rawiller will start a suspension after he rides the Darren Weir-trained Ulmann in a stakes race in Perth.
Racing Victoria stewards suspended Rawiller for nine meetings on a careless riding charge at Mornington on Wednesday.
Riding Careering Away in the Eliza Dry Cleaners Plate, Rawiller was suspended following a bumping duel with the John Allen-ridden Captain Harry.
Rawiller told stewards, headed by Wade Hadley, that he misread Jake Noonan, riding Rosstart, saying he expected a run to appear to the outside of that horse.
He said he was embarrassed in attempting to take a narrow gap that caused his and Allen’s horse to bump and become unbalanced.
Rawiller is hoping for better luck when he returns to Perth on Saturday for the ride on Ulmann in the Group Three AJ Scahill Stakes (1400m).
He rode Black Heart Bart into ninth place in the Group One Kingston Town Stakes last Saturday after striking severe early interference that led to leading Perth jockey William Pike being suspended.
After his Perth commitment, Rawiller will be sidelined until Caulfield on Boxing Day.
