Blinkered approach for Sista Act

Handy filly Sista Act will sport blinkers for the first time as she chases a place in the Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic.

Sista Act is currently a long way out of the final field for the $2 million Classic on January 14 but a win in Saturday’s 1100m race for two-year-olds at the Gold Coast would get her into the field.

Trainer Liam Birchley was considering taking the filly to Wyong for the Magic Millions race on December 22 won by Madeenaty from Single Bullet.

“The trip down and the heat made it not the best option. I have elected to put blinkers on her and run her on Saturday,” Birchley said.

“Le Chef raced well in this race before he went on to win the Magic Millions a week later. My filly is fit and provided the track isn’t too heavy she will get her chance.”

Birchley already has Real Princess in the Millions which means he has qualified at least one horse in the race every year for the past 13 years.

Sista Act is raced by an all-women syndicate making her eligible for a $500,000 bonus series in the Millions.

Trainer John Zielke has booked champion Melbourne apprentice Dylan Dunn for Make My Own Luck who could thwart the Magic Millions Classic hopes of several of his rivals.

A brilliant winner on debut Toowoomba, Make My Own Luck was second to Champ Elect in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes last month but is not eligible for the Magic Millions..
