Betting breach has jockey before RAD Board
A second jockey is to front Victoria’s Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board for betting on thoroughbred racing.
Daniel Schmitt has been charged by Racing Victoria stewards following an investigation into a number of bets.
Stewards allege Schmitt made, facilitated in or had an interest in a total of 71 bets placed on thoroughbred races between January 2016 and September 2018.
None of the 71 bets were on races he rode in.
The RAD Board will hear his charge at a future date.
Apprentice Chris Caserta will have his charge of placing six bets using his TAB account heard by the RAD Board on Wednesday.
Like Schmitt, none of Caserta’s alleged bets were on races he was riding in.
