SUMMER has not quite reached us yet, but Australia’s cricketers are feeling the heat in a big way.
After losing in all three formats to Pakistan in the UAE, the green and gold returned home only to be smashed by South Africa in three ODIs and a lone Twenty20 game.
What has fans most worried is the fragility of a batting order that is missing two of its brightest stars, the suspended Steve Smith and David Warner.
Of particular concern is the form of Aaron Finch, who has reached double figures twice in eight innings since assuming the captaincy of Australia’s white-ball teams.
The likes of Chris Lynn, D’Arcy Short, Glenn Maxwell and Ben McDermott have fared little better, which leaves Aussie supporters wondering where the runs will come from when they tackle India.
The touring party boasts some of the world’s most destructive batsmen, including (but not limited to) Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and the great Virat Kohli.
But it is the improvement of India’s bowling attack that makes them such a dangerous prospect this time around.
Even without Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma, the visitors bring a healthy crop of seamers led by the experience and guile Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Spin stars Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are also not required, the Indian selectors opting for youth instead with Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav alongside Yuzvendra Chahal.
Kohli and company also have form on their side, having just completed a 3-0 whitewash of the West Indies in their recent T20 series.

Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world.
By the time he is done with international cricket, he might well be the greatest batsman of all time.
Nobody piles on runs in every format the way Kohli does, let alone with such style.
He averages 48.88 in Twenty20 Internationals – a remarkable figure, especially when striking at 136.22 runs per 100 balls faced.
Guys like Rohit and Dhawan will smash out bigger scores, but nobody churns out runs as consistently as Virat.
If you are worried about one of the top-order players getting off to a flyer, play it safe and bet on Kohli to make 50 or more.
Australia vs. India betting predictions
Do not back Australia.
Forget the batting woes for a minute and look at the bowling attack.
With the Tests coming up, not one of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc will don the green and gold pyjamas.
India have also left a few of their A-graders behind, but they don’t have to bowl to Kohli, Sharma, et al.
Read the form lines, look at the top-end talent and put your money on the visitors.
