Bayliss, Lindsay Park dominate at Geelong
Young jockey Regan Bayliss has ridden a career-best five winners in a day at Geelong, all for the powerful Lindsay Park stable.
After wins to Sia, Mutin, Bogong Road and Vintage Quartz on Tuesday’s provincial program, Bayliss told broadcaster Racing.com it had been one of his goals to ride four winners in a day.
“To be able to do it today is terrific,” Bayliss said.
But 20-year-old Bayliss and the Lindsay Park team weren’t done yet.
They rounded out the meeting in the final race with Concubine winding up down the outside to win a 1300m benchmark-64 handicap.
“I was happy with one winner but to be able to get five winners here today is truly remarkable,” Bayliss said.
“All the horses were in the right races today and they all looked very well placed. I’m glad I was able to sit on their backs.”
Bayliss was indentured to the Lindsay Park team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig for the latter part of his apprenticeship before becoming a senior rider early this year after outriding his claim.
He rode his first Group One winner in March aboard Lindsay Park’s Redkirk Warrior in the Newmarket Handicap.
Bayliss is booked to ride Faatinah for the stable in Saturday’s Group One Goodwood in Adelaide.
