Australia vs Pakistan 2nd Test odds, betting tips and predictions
Australia | $1.20 at Bet365 | |
Draw | $9 at Ladbrokes | |
Pakistan | $11 at Sportsbet |
2pm ACDT Friday, November 29 at Adelaide Oval
The odds for the second match of the Australia vs Pakistan Test series are rather lopsided after the hosts claimed a resounding victory in Brisbane last week. Some online bookmakers have Tim Paine’s men as short as $1.18 to win the day-nighter at Adelaide Oval, while the tourists are giving up a whopping $11 at Ladbrokes.
Pakistan made a positive start at the Gabba, but it all went downhill as soon as the Aussie quicks dismissed Azhar Ali and Shan Masood shortly after lunch on day one. With big knocks from David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne complemented by a solid all-round bowling performance, Australia wrapped things up inside four days with an innings and five runs to spare.

Victorian paceman James Pattinson is available following a suspension, but the home XI is unlikely to change after such a dominant display. It is a different story for the visitors, with several players under the gun.
Mohammad Abbas is tipped to reclaim his spot in the Pakistani bowling attack in place of Imran Khan, who was a controversial selection for Brisbane. Naseem Shah only bowled 20 overs in Australia’s innings and may sit out in Adelaide, with 19-year-old Musa Khan the likely replacement.
There are also questions over the batting lineup. Haris Sohail was dismissed cheaply in each innings, edging away from his body on both occasions. That could mean a recall for left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq, which would see Azhar revert to his preferred role at first drop.
Steve Smith top runscorer odds
- Man of the match – $6 at Bet365
- Top Australia batsman – $3 at Ladbrokes
- To score 100 in either innings – $2.50 at Bet365
The only real surprise of the first Test was Steve Smith’s failure with the bat. Taking full advantage of a rare opportunity to put up his feet and let others do the work, the star of the recent Ashes series contributed only four runs to a total of 580. But this guy does not fail two games in a row, especially in Australia, and he is the man for the job if the Aussies have to bat under the lights against the pink Kookaburra.
Australia vs Pakistan top wicket-taker tips
Mitchell Starc – $3.75 at Sportsbet
Pat Cummins has not taken a lot of Test wickets at Adelaide, where he is often used as an enforcer through the middle overs of an innings. Josh Hazlewood’s recent record there is not great either, which leaves Starc as the main man after his seven-wicket effort in the opening Test.
Mohammad Abbas – $3.50 at Bet365
The Pakistani selectors made a big blunder when they left Abbas out of their attack for the Brisbane Test. The 29-year-old seamer has great stamina and should test the Aussie top order with his nagging line and length, especially if there is any movement off the pitch.
Australia vs Pakistan stats and trends
- Australia have won each of their five day-night Test matches to date
- Three of those wins have come in Adelaide, including the first-ever D/N Test in 2015
- Pakistan have not played a Test at Adelaide Oval since January 1990
Australia vs Pakistan betting predictions
Australia to win – $1.20 at Bet365
Besides the first session, Pakistan were no good in Brisbane. Their selections were off the mark and the Aussies made them pay. None of the current Pakistan squad have ever played a Test match at Adelaide, so the hosts should romp to a clean sweep.
