The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 continues on Friday night with a contest between two sides vying for a semi-final spot as Australia take on Pakistan in Bangalore. Below our cricket experts have given their free Australia v Pakistan betting tips and winner prediction for their pool match.
Cricket betting sites have priced the Australians at $1.55 to defeat the Pakistanis ($2.40), while they are priced at $6 and $13 respectively to win the World Cup.
Australia finally secured their first win on Monday as they comprehensively beat Sri Lanka by five wickets. After Sri Lanka got away to a hot start, it was leg-spinner Adam Zampa who returned to form, taking 4-47 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 209. Chasing down the total with ease, the Aussies were led by 50s from Mitch Marsh and Josh Inglis to reach the score in 35.2 overs.
The comfortable win provided the Aussies with a much-needed boost to their net run rate. Looking to reach the knockout stage, Australia will need to continue winning after starting with two losses.
Another concern is that Adam Zampa is reportedly dealing with back spasms. With no back-up spinner in the squad, the Aussies will be very reliant upon some extra overs from part-time bowlers if Zampa isn’t available for the next match.
Pakistan suffered their first loss of the Cricket World Cup on Saturday night, as they were comprehensively beaten by arch rival India by seven wickets. A strong start saw them sitting at 2-155 after 29 overs, but a lower order collapse saw them lose their next eight wickets for just 36 runs as they made an underwhelming 191. India were never troubled in the chase, as they comfortably reached the score in 30.3 overs.
With their two wins coming over Sri Lanka and the Netherlands, Pakistan are yet to show their form against the top sides of the World Cup. Coming up against Australia, expect them to make changes to the side with struggling middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel expected to be replaced by Fakhar Zaman. Leg-spinner Shadab Khan is also a chance to be dropped for the match, with Usama Mir expected to come in.

Australia v Pakistan betting tips
After their impressive performance against Sri Lanka, Australia will need to continue their form against Pakistan. Two sides with impressive fast bowling units, look for both sides to get early wickets. We’re backing the Aussies in this one at $1.55 with Neds.
So far this World Cup, no Aussie batsmen has shown any consistency in their performances, as such, we look for anyone in the top four as the top run-scorer. After missing out against Sri Lanka, look for opener David Warner to lead the way for the Aussies as the top run-scorer at $4.33 with top Australian bookmakers.
For Pakistan, leading the way throughout the World Cup has been number four Mohammed Rizwan. Top of the World Cup for runs with 248 from his three matches, Rizwan has been the most important member of the side so far. At $4.50, Rizwan shows great value as top run scorer for Pakistan.
