Allowance key to Yaba Dabl Doya victory

The 3kg claim of apprentice Brooke Ainsworth made the difference when outsider Yaba Dabl Doya won at Doomben.

Yaba Dabl Doya ($18) made it double-figure odds winners in the first four races on Saturday when he beat Outraged ($7) by a half neck with three-quarters of a length to Craiglea Deken.

The gelding had been beaten at his previous three starts in benchmark company and over shorter distances.

However, trainer Ken Deacon, who has only four horses in work at Beaudesert, decided to step Yaba Dabl Doya up in class and distance.

“It got some weight off his back as he only carried 51 kilos after Brooke’s claim. A few people said he wouldn’t run a strong 1600 metres but I always felt he would,” Deacon said.

“We have had a lot of fun with this horse as he has now won eight races. I am also very happy for Brooke because she is a hard worker.”

Ainsworth, who rides most of her work at Beaudesert, has decided to step up her presence in Brisbane this season.

“Yaba Dabl Doya settled a lot better today and he really ran the 1600 metres right out,” she said.

Trainer Kelly Schweida was left shaking his head after Outraged again rattled home late for second.

“He never seems to get much luck,” he said.
