AFL R14 fixtures, match predictions & top betting tips
The 2024 AFL Premiership season rolls on this weekend as the race for finals positions heats up. With the bye rounds continuing, here are our free betting previews for all six matches of round 14.
Brisbane Lions vs St Kilda Saints
Friday, June 14 – 7:40pm AEST – Gabba
After a disappointing start to the season, Brisbane Lions have now lost just one of their last four games. Back at the Gabba, they enter as strong betting favourites for a tricky clash against St Kilda. Playing an incredibly defensive style, the Saints have won their past two games, but facing the exciting Lions attack will be a real test.
Brisbane -24.5
Western Bulldogs vs Fremantle Dockers
Saturday, June 15 – 1:45pm AEST – Marvel Stadium
Coming off their bye, Fremantle have a chance to turn a three-match unbeaten run into a top-four spot as they head to Melbourne to face the Western Bulldogs. It has been a tale of two teams for Luke Beveridge’s men, who have shown their best and worst over the past few weeks. As the best defensive side in the AFL, expect the Dockers to lock down this game, while the Dogs will be hoping their young forward line can catch fire.
Fremantle +5.5
Richmond Tigers vs Hawthorn Hawks
Saturday, June 15 – 4:35pm AEST – MCG
After winning five of their last six matches, Hawthorn have become one of the most dangerous sides in the AFL as they push for a finals spot. Coming up against the 17th-placed Richmond, the Hawks are heavy favourites but should be wary after the Tigers’ win last Thursday. With percentage a clear problem for Hawthorn in their finals tilt, this may be the perfect opportunity to get a big win.
Hawthorn -12.5
Adelaide Crows vs Sydney Swans
Saturday, June 15 – 7pm ACST – Adelaide Oval
Seemingly unstoppable right now, the 11-1 Sydney Swans sit comfortably two games and percentage clear of the chasing pack. They now head to South Australia to face Adelaide, who have fallen down to 15th after their loss to the Tigers in round 13. With wins over top-four sides Port Adelaide and Carlton this season, the Crows could threaten, but it would have to be a much-improved performance from their past few weeks.
Sydney -20.5
North Melbourne vs Collingwood Magpies
Sunday, June 16 – 1pm AEST – Marvel Stadium
Following their impressive King’s Birthday win, Collingwood have worked their way back into the finals spots and sit just outside the top four on percentage. They enter as the biggest favourites of the weekend against the last-placed North Melbourne. Despite securing their first win of the season last Saturday, the Kangaroos should struggle against the reigning premiers.
Collingwood -38.5
GWS Giants vs Port Adelaide Power
Sunday, June 16 – 4pm AEST – ENGIE Stadium
With just one win in their past five matches, the GWS Giants are now at risk of dropping out of the top eight. In the most exciting clash of the weekend, they enter as slight favourites against the fourth-placed Port Adelaide, who are fresh off their bye. At home, the Giants will like their chances, but the Power have won four of the past five clashes between the sides.
GWS -9.5
