AFL JLT pre-season betting form and Week 3 multi selections
WE are less than a month away from the real deal in the AFL, which means we have just a fortnight left of pre-season footy left.
All teams have finally played in the pre-season, so we have a better idea of how each team is looking going into the season proper.
Last week’s multi was undone on the final leg by a lacklustre Hawthorn, which cost us a pretty penny, but we’re bouncing back by putting together a multi that looks safer and pays a higher price.
All odds for the third week of the AFL pre-season competition were provided by Sportsbet.com.au, which is offering punters a fantastic deal for punters that are yet to sign up.
New customers can get their first bet at Sportsbet matched up to the value of $501.
Free selections for the AFL Pre Season Week 2 multi:
GWS to beat Sydney ($1.55)
St Kilda to defeat Carlton ($1.35)
Adelaide to beat Geelong ($2)
Port Adelaide to win against the Richmond ($1.53)
Combined multi value: $6.40 @ Sportsbet.com.au
GWS Giants vs. Sydney Swans
Friday, March 3 from 7.40 pm AEDST Blacktown Sportspark, Sydney
It’s a battle of the bridge in the pre-season as the Giants host the Swans at Blacktown.
The Giants took last week of,f but in the opening round of the JLT Series they hammered the Eagles, who then went on to smash Fremantle. The form line reads well going into this one.
Sydney took last week off, but prior to the Swans were beaten by an under-strength North Melbourne. The Swans welcome back Buddy Franklin, but the superstar’s minutes should be managed.
We are backing the Giants to get the job done here and remain undefeated in the JLT Series.
GWS Giants to win – $1.55
Carlton Blues vs. St Kilda Saints
Saturday, February 25 from 2.05 pm AEDST, Ikon Park, Melbourne
The Blues and the Saints meet in the second game of our AFL pre-season multi, and we’re backing the ‘traveling’ Saints to get the job done against the hapless Blues.
Carlton struggled in their opening JLT fixture against Melbourne last weekend. The Blues failed to score 10 goals whilst conceding 17 of their own.
The Saints put in a gritty performance to beat the Power by one point.
Carlton welcome back Patrick Cripps, but it should not matter, Saints are the far superior side and should easily account for the Blues.
St Kilda to win – $1.35
Adelaide Crows vs. Geelong Cats
Saturday, March 3 from 2.05 pm AEDST, Richmond Oval, Adelaide
An interesting match up between two teams expecting to go well in the season proper looms as the Crows host the Cats in South Australia.
The Crows are resting a number of their stars, but still have a fairly strong unit that will take to the field on Saturday.
The Cats have named close to their best side on Saturday, but will likely cut a few of their biggest names rather than risking them on a road trip in the pre-season.
We are backing the home side here. They are expected to be pushing for the flag this year and they have an incredibly deep roster at their disposal.
Adelaide Crows to win – $2
Port Adelaide Power vs. Richmond Tigers
Sunday, March 4 from 4.10 pm AEDST, Malseed Park, Mt Gambier
The Power and the Tigers round out the third week of the pre-season competition and our multi this weekend.
The Tigers opened their JLT campaign in style, taking care of the Crows by 19 points. The Dion Prestia/Josh Caddy-era began in style as both players dominated around the packs.
The Power went down by one point against the Saints, but they fielded an incredibly weak side. This weekend Ebert, Monfries and Broadbent are the only three players from their best 22 that will be missing.
Port Adelaide should round out our multi in winning fashion.
