AFL 2020 Betting Update: Lions, Power tipped for Grand Final
The second week of the AFL 2020 finals may not have lived up to the first, but we now know which four teams will compete in the preliminary finals this weekend. Let’s look at the latest outright odds and futures markets at Sportsbet – one of Australia’s best AFL betting sites.
Lions lead last four in AFL Premiership betting
This may be the hardest year to tip the premiers in recent history.
The Brisbane Lions keep their spot as favourites, as they will stay in Queensland for both their upcoming prelim and the Grand Final if they make it.
A clinical performance against the Saints last weekend has moved the Richmond Tigers into the next best position after Brisbane, but they still need to overcome the minor premiers in South Australia before thinking about the big dance.
Even though the Port Adelaide Power will start this Friday’s clash against the Tigers as favourites, they’re still third in line because of the eventual travel to the Gabba.
If the Geelong Cats can get over the Lions this Saturday, there’s nothing stopping them from going all the way on the back of their ominous performance against the Magpies.
We cannot make a call on the premiers yet, but our gut feeling points to the local Lions.

Reigning premiers still popular in AFL exacta market
As St Kilda and Collingwood fall out of the competition, the 2020 AFL exacta market has made a few interesting changes.
If you waited a week before backing the favourites, you’ve made the right choice, as the Brisbane/Port Adelaide selection has gone from $5 to $5.50 after last weekend’s games.
Investing in the Cats was also a smart decision, as Geelong/Port Adelaide ($13 into $7) and Geelong/Richmond ($21 into $9) have since plunged.
Despite starting as outsiders against Port Adelaide, the Tigers will give you short odds at only $6 against Brisbane and $6.50 against Geelong.
Ken Hinkley’s Power have proved the doubters wrong all season, so their odds of $7 against Brissy and $8.50 against Geelong could be very rewarding.

Interstate teams tipped for AFL Grand Final berth
There are only four possible AFL quinella options remaining, and they all have very similar odds.
Both of the two shortest bets involve the Lions getting the victory at the Gabba, meaning the two outsiders will involve Geelong causing an upset.
Knowing both non-Victorian clubs had a much-needed break while the others played gives us a feeling Port Adelaide and Brisbane will make the 2020 AFL Grand Final.
This is the last week before the quinella market disappears, so get in while you can.

All Australian forwards favoured for most finals goals
The deadly combination of Patrick Dangerfield and Tom Hawkins wreaked havoc in the semis, and it’s no surprise to see them leading the betting for most goals in the AFL finals.
We still rate Charlie Cameron at $7 because he loves kicking goals at the Gabba, where he can possibly put together another two big performances.
Port Adelaide’s Steven Motlop must be considered at $17, as the small forward has kicked seven goals in his last four games and has been fantastic under the bright lights recently.
If you think the Tigers can beat the Power this Friday, Tom Lynch is going to be your best tip, as the big key forward could have kicked five or more last week and is looming large.
