AFL 2020 Betting Market: Flag favourites make their move
The flag favourites flexed their muscles, the Coleman Medal leader extended his advantage, the Rising Star frontrunner was outstanding again and we have a new Brownlow Medal market. There are plenty of AFL 2020 betting futures for us to dissect after last weekend’s action.
Top five going strong in AFL Premiership betting
There are now only five teams that can be considered genuine premiership contenders, and they all got a win in round 13.
None of the top options moved in the market at Sportsbet.com.au, but there’s a quiet underachiever and slight overachiever in the pack.
The West Coast Eagles fought off a much-improved GWS outfit that pushed them until the last quarter, which kept their odds stable at $5.
Even though the Richmond Tigers were winners against Essendon in Darwin, we think their $5.50 price may be too short with matches against West Coast and Geelong still to come.
Our pick of the lot would be the Geelong Cats at $6, as Tom Hawkins is in damaging form and the back six is just about the best in the competition.

Bookies launch Brownlow Medal odds without Neale
The pointy end of the 2020 Brownlow Medal betting has not changed much in the last month, as Lachie Neale is the runaway favourite at $1.40 with four games left to play.
It seems online bookmakers have conceded that nobody can run down the Brisbane Lions midfielder, as they’ve now opened up Brownlow betting markets that exclude Neale.
Christian Petracca has the shortest odds at $5, but we think the likes of Clayton Oliver and Max Gawn will take some votes off the dynamic Melbourne playmaker.
Travis Boak is an excellent choice at $7, as he’s been massive for Port Adelaide since relinquishing his captaincy at the end of 2018.
A strong run home from Marcus Bontempelli ($17) could see the Western Bulldogs skipper enter the fray, as his recent form has been second to none.

Can anyone catch Hawkins in Coleman Medal betting?
Three goals could have been six for Tom Hawkins if he had kicked straight against the Crows, yet he is now five goals clear of Josh Kennedy in the Coleman Medal race and leads the betting at $1.90.
Kennedy at $2.50 is always going to be dangerous, as the big Eagle has booted four or more goals in a game on four occasions this season, but he needed to kick more than just the one goal in round 13.
The leaderboard was dominated by small forwards in the first half of the season, but Tom Papley, Charlie Cameron and Dan Butler have all settled at $26 after a few lean weeks.
Matt Taberner joins Charlie Dixon at $13 following his excellent form and is the only player to kick a goal in every game this season.
All eyes will be on Hawkins this weekend when the Cats take on the Western Bulldogs, who might lack a bit of size and strength in their defensive 50.

Serong grabs outright favouritism in Rising Star betting
Caleb Serong has been ultra-consistent in the last month and continued his march towards the 2020 AFL Rising Star award with a solid display in Fremantle’s win on the weekend.
The tough midfielder had another 20-disposal game and also laid five tackles as the Dockers climbed to 13th on the ladder with a comprehensive victory over the Sydney Swans.
Izak Rankine falls to $3.50 after a mixed game against the Blues where he should have impacted the scoreboard more but made a few crucial errors.
Tying at $5 on the third line of Rising Star betting are Max King and Noah Anderson, two completely different prospects for the Saints and Suns respectively.
King could have had a big impact for St Kilda on Sunday, but some wayward kicking at crucial moments proved costly in a two-point loss to Brisbane.
