Adelaide outright AFL flag favourites after crushing Tigers

AFL Market Movers
ADELAIDE is the new $3.50 favourite to win the 2017 AFL flag after another dominant display in round six.

The Crows’ premiership credentials were rubber-stamped on Sunday night after the home side obliterated the Tigers by 76 points.

Adelaide coach Don Pyke said his side will be “hard to play against” for the remainder of the season after their glittering win.

“I’ve been around long enough to know no-one is unbeatable,” Pyke said

“To play that way is exciting.

“I sit back in the box at times and marvel at some of the ball movement we were able to execute.

“We’ve got work to do, but when we play that way, we’re very hard to play against.”

GWS are the next best team in the market at the $3.75 quote, while the Western Bulldogs ($7 at Crownbet.com.au) and Geelong ($9 at WilliamHill.com.au) are the only other teams in the competition under double figures for the flag.

The other firmer in the betting markets is superstar Crow Rory Sloane.

Sloane, who began the season as a $31 outsider in Brownlow Medal betting, was crunched into outright favouritism ($4) at Crownbet.com.au following another stellar display on Sunday.

The South Australians are now the only remaining undefeated team in the league after six weeks of football, which has prompted Sportsbet.com.au to open a market on the first-time Adelaide will taste defeat this season.

Sportsbet Crows special

The Crows travel to Geelong to face the Cats at home in round 11, which is the current shortest price option at $3.50.

The Crows are $31 to go through season 2017 undefeated.

Fellow South Australians Port Adelaide have also firmed in the market.

The Power – who were outsiders just to make the finals in 2017 – are now $12 at Sportsbet.com.au to win the flag.

SEN football analyst Danny Frawley believes the Power are in premiership calculations this season.

“I think they’re a genuine premiership contender,” he said on SEN’s AFL coverage on Sunday.

“They’ve got their mojo back.”

The former Richmond coach believes an improved performance from both the forwards and defenders this season has contributed to their rise.

“I know it was only Brisbane but that’s the best Charlie Dixon’s moved. That’s his best game for the club.

“And I watched their backline closely…You don’t get to see Port much but [Tom] Jonas, he doesn’t get beat. He’s a ripper.”

Sportsbet.com.au currently sees the premiership race being settled in South Australia.

South Australia at $2.50 is favoured over Victoria, which sits at $2.75.
