Brisbane Roar vs Sydney FC

After a disappointing start to their season last weekend, Sydney FC will be looking to bounce back in Brisbane. Under new coach Ross Aloisi, the Roar will look to command possession, but they may struggle against the quality and experience of a perennial contender. Back Steve Corica’s men to be too strong on Friday night.

Wellington Phoenix vs Perth Glory

In one of the longest away tips in domestic football, Perth Glory head all the way across to Wellington on Saturday. Historically, they have struggled with the trip, with their last win in New Zealand coming back in 2020. Given the Glory took out the wooden spoon last season, the Phoenix will be confident of a result.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Western United

Wanderers will feel as though they missed an opportunity last week after being kept to a goalless draw despite dominating the game. Conversely, Western United played an excellent brand of counterattacking football as they saluted 2-1. With United winning three of the last four meetings, they look to be a good value play this weekend.

Central Coast Mariners vs Macarthur FC

After getting their title defence off to the worst possible start in their 3-0 loss to Adelaide United last weekend, the Mariners will need to bounce back this weekend against Macarthur FC. With star recruit Alou Kuol returning to the side after a spell in Germany, look for him to open his scoring account this weekend.

Melbourne Victory vs Newcastle Jets

Starting their season with an excellent 2-0 win away against Sydney FC, Melbourne Victory look like one of the key title contenders. Against a Newcastle Jets side that is expected to struggle this season, Tony Popovic’s men should win this match comfortably.

Adelaide United vs Melbourne City

In the marquee matchup of the round, top-of-the-table Adelaide host last year’s minor premiers, Melbourne City. The men in sky blue were disappointing last week and face the risk of dropping to the bottom of the table early in the season. With these two sides expected to be at the top of the A-League ladder, this should be a close match.
