A-League Round 11 betting preview & top odds | January 4-7

The 2023/24 A-League action continues this weekend as we approach the halfway point of the season with six matches of top-quality Australian soccer. Here are our free tips and previews for Round 11 of the 2023/24 A-League Men season

Adelaide United vs Wellington Phoenix

Thursday, January 4 – 7:15pm ACDT – Coopers Stadium

Despite sitting on top of the table, Wellington Phoenix need a much-improved effort after they suffered their second defeat of the season in a 3-1 loss to Sydney FC last weekend. Heading across to Adelaide, they face a United side that is in the midst of a slide down the table, having lost four of their past five matches. Wellington should be the stronger side here, but they haven’t won in Adelaide since 2019, so expect this match to be a close affair.

Macarthur FC vs Newcastle Jets

Friday, January 5 – 7:45pm AEDT – Campbelltown Sports Stadium

After their perfect start to the season, Macarthur FC have now lost their last three in a row as their defence has conceded goals at will. Sitting fifth on the table, Macarthur are just three points clear of the Jets, who are tenth. The Jets have had a good month with just one loss in their past four. Forward Trent Buhagiar has lead the way for the Jets, scoring three goals in his last three matches and presents as a value pick to get on the scoresheet here.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Central Coast Mariners

Saturday, January 6 – 5:30pm AEDT – CommBank Stadium

The form side of the A-League right now, the Central Coast Mariners are unbeaten in their last six and have the best attack in the competition with 19 goals across that stretch. This weekend, we are set for an excellent matchup as they come up against the excellent defence of the third-placed Western Sydney Wanderers. The number one home side in the A-League, the Wanderers have lost just one match at CommBank Stadium this season. But with the form of the Mariners, an upset may be on the cards.

Brisbane Roar vs Sydney FC

Saturday, January 6 – 6:45pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium

After suffering the biggest defeat in A-League history last weekend, expect wholesale changes to the Brisbane Roar side. Having lost their last three matches and slipped out of the final’s positions, the Roar will be out to make a statement under new coach Ben Cahn. Sydney FC showed their quality after their 4-2 win over the Wellington Phoenix last weekend and will be looking to jump into the finals positions with a good result this weekend. Expect plenty of goals with the poor Roar form combining with a Sydney FC side that has not kept a clean sheet in their last 12 matches.

Perth Glory vs Melbourne Victory

Saturday, January 6 – 6:45pm AWST – HBF Park

The last remaining undefeated side in the A-League, Melbourne Victory, have finally gotten over their run of draws by winning three of their last four matches. This weekend, they make the long trip across to Perth, where they face the struggling Perth Glory. The Glory have just two wins so far this season, and coming up against the top-scoring side in the league, their poor run is likely to continue.

Western United vs Melbourne City

Sunday, January 7 – 5:00pm AEDT – AAMI Park

Coming off an 8-1 victory last weekend, Melbourne City will be full of confidence this weekend as they come up against the last-placed Western United. Arguably the most talented side in the A-League, City have slowly worked their way into form as they are undefeated in their last five matches. Coming up against the worst attack and defence in the league, City should have too much class here. However, with the limited value on City, look to pair it with the overs, as their lethal attack should create plenty of chances.
