A-League R22 preview, betting tips & match predictions
After a week off due to the international break, the 2023/24 A-League season returns for its final stretch with just five weeks to go. Below are our free soccer betting tips for round 22.
Adelaide United vs Western United
Friday, March 29 – 7:15pm ACDT – Coopers Stadium
On a run of four matches unbeaten, Western United have a chance to jump off the bottom of the A-League table with a win against Adelaide United. The Reds have lost six of their past eight matches, yet they still enter this contest as favourites with top soccer bookmakers. With Western United in better form, they offer great value at +240 for the win.
Western United to win
Melbourne City vs Newcastle Jets
Saturday, March 30 – 5:30pm AEDT – AAMI Park
After their 7-0 demolition of the Wanderers before the international break, Melbourne City now sit just two points outside the top six. Welcoming the 11th-placed Newcastle Jets, City should be far too strong for a side that has just one win from its past 12 matches. With the odds skewed heavily in favour of the home side, look for added value in the total goals market as City’s powerful attack makes the most of the leaky Jets defence.
Melbourne City / Over 2.5 goals
Sydney FC vs Central Coast Mariners
Saturday, March 30 – 7:45pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Sitting three points behind the leaders with a game in hand, the Central Coast Mariners head to Sydney with the chance to jump back on top of the table. On the verge of the finals positions, a loss to the Phoenix last round has left Sydney FC vulnerable to dropping outside the top six. Having won four of the past five games between the sides, Sydney come in as favourites, but given the Mariners are on a four-match winning streak, the visitors offer great value.
Central Coast Mariners to win
Wellington Phoenix vs Brisbane Roar
Sunday, March 31 – 1pm NZDT – Sky Stadium
Locked in a race for the Premier’s Plate with the Mariners, Wellington Phoenix have an excellent opportunity at home against the worst defence in the A-League. The Brisbane Roar have just two wins from their past 10 matches and have not won in New Zealand since 2017. At +100 with the best soccer betting sites, the Phoenix should be far too strong as favourites.
Wellington Phoenix to win
Melbourne Victory vs Perth Glory
Sunday, March 31 – 1pm AEST – AAMI Park
The fourth-placed Melbourne Victory continue their finals push this weekend as they welcome the 10th-placed Perth Glory. After a mid-season resurgence, it seems the Glory have run out of steam, going winless in their past four games to slide out of finals calculations. While Victory come in as comfortable favourites, they have conceded in 11 of their past 12 matches, so it might be worth backing both teams to score.
Melbourne Victory / Both teams to score
Macarthur FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Monday, April 1 – 4pm AEST – Campbelltown Sports Stadium
Sitting right on the edge of the finals positions, the sixth-placed Wanderers are feeling pressure from the chasing pack. Western Sydney will need to sort out their recent defensive issues when they face Macarthur FC, who hold the second-best attacking record in the A-League. Each of the past five matches between the sides has gone over 3.5 total goals, including a 4-3 thriller back in February, so expect plenty of goals.
Over 3.5 goals
