A-League Multi of the Week – Round 8 betting tips
THREE teams share the top line of A-League title betting at Sportsbet.com.au.
Perth Glory remain undefeated after clinching a 1-0 home win over Melbourne City.
They hold a two-point lead over Melbourne Victory, who defeated Adelaide United to notch their fifth win of the season.
Sydney FC suffered a shock defeat to Wellington Phoenix at the weekend, yet they are remain tied with Glory and Victory at $4.33 odds for the 2018/19 A-League title.
A big derby date and a tussle for the top four are the standouts as we look at the best soccer multi bets for round eight.
A-League Multi of the Week – Round 8
- Victory to beat Roar
- Sydney to beat Wanderers
- United to beat City
A-League multi odds = $9.45 at Sportsbet
Brisbane Roar vs. Melbourne Victory
6:50pm AEST Friday, December 14 at Suncorp Stadium
- Roar $3.30
- Draw $3.60
- Victory $2.10
Despite some hard-working displays and the goalscoring exploits of Adam Taggart, Brisbane find themselves floundering at the wrong end of the table.
Their 2-0 defeat in Newcastle last Sunday leaves them second from bottom with a negative goal difference and only one win in seven games.
That is in stark contrast to the fortunes of the Victory, who are now flying after a slow start to the campaign.
Kevin Muscat’s men have won five on the bounce, scoring 13 goals and conceding only two in that stretch.
With star imports Keisuke Honda and Ola Toivonen in fine form, Melbourne should have too much firepower for the Roar.
Western Sydney Wanderers vs. Sydney FC
7:50pm AEDT Saturday, December 15 at ANZ Stadium
- Wanderers $3.40
- Draw $3.60
- Sydney $2
Last week was a win-or-bust proposition for Wanderers, and they came through with a 2-0 result over the battling Central Coast Mariners.
Although it was a comfortable enough win, Markus Babbel will want his troops to find a new level for Saturday’s derby clash at ANZ Stadium.
Sydney boss Steve Corica will also demand vast improvement after his charges copped a 3-1 loss to Wellington.
The Sky Blues have registered only one victory in their last four games and need a result to keep pace with the top two.
Derbies are always dicey affairs in the sports betting world, but the smart money is on Sydney to respond with a win.
Adelaide United vs. Melbourne City
6:30pm ACDT Sunday, December 16 at Coopers Stadium
- United $2.25
- Draw $3.60
- City $2.88
United failed to contain the Victory in Melbourne last weekend, but they won’t be alone in that bracket this season.
The Reds are travelling rather well, in truth, and should view this as a big chance to take control of a top-four spot.
City lost a tough one away to Perth last time out, but the big story is what’s happening away from the field of play.
Star striker Bruno Fornaroli wants out of the club and there is a palpable tension mounting between coach Warren Joyce and the playing group.
With all that going on and the resulting uncertainty over City’s starting XI, put your money on Adelaide at home.
