The men in purple are undefeated under new boss Tony Popovic, with three wins and a draw from their first four games.

Sydney FC are also yet to suffer a loss, while the two Melbourne clubs round out a familiar-looking top four.

Brisbane Roar, Central Coast Mariners and Newcastle Jets will be hoping for better fortunes after the international break, as all three are yet to notch a win.

Although Brisbane are yet to taste victory this season, three of their four games have ended in draws.

The last of those was a 2-2 result against Western Sydney Wanderers, where the Roar rallied well to halve the points after conceding two early goals.

They may need to show more of that fighting spirit against a Melbourne City outfit that boasts a significant attacking threat.

Bruno Fornaroli opened his account last time out in the 2-0 win over Wellington Phoenix, while Belgian defender Ritchie De Laet has netted twice in four weeks.

Brisbane are better than their record suggests, but City should have the top-end talent to get the job done.

Sydney are tracking well despite some sluggish spells in the opening few weeks of the campaign.

Coach Steve Corica must be loving the early form of English import Adam Le Fondre, who has scored four times in as many games.

His chief rival for signing of the season is Keisuke Honda, who has two goals and looks a million bucks at the head of the Victory midfield.

Melbourne were just finding their groove when the break hit, so the question is whether they can pick up where they left off after smashing Central Coast 4-1.

Kevin Muscat’s men are dangerous anywhere at their best, but the Sky Blues are tough to beat at home.

After a couple of fighting draws to start the season, Mike Mulvey’s men have conceded seven goals to one in the their last two outings.
