Wise Hero stays unbeaten at Moonee Valley
John Price looks like he has a promising three-year-old on his hands, with Wise Hero giving the former West Australian his first Melbourne city winner.
Wise Hero won easily on debut at Moe earlier this month and took the step to city racing on Saturday, winning at Moonee Valley.
Price has been based in Victoria at Cranbourne for the past three years and said it was a special win.
“I’m very chuffed with that,” Price said.
Wise Hero, who firmed from $3.10 into $2.60, was ridden by former Perth jockey Damian Lane.
Price is looking to take Wise Hero to a race at Flemington in a couple of weeks before turning him out for a break.
“He’s a special horse,” Price said.
“I believe he’s still somewhat untapped and can improve.
‘I’ve been lucky enough to have had a few nice horses over the years gone by, and to be in his second run on a Saturday in Victoria it’s a pretty good effort.”
Wise Hero sat close to the speed and strode clear early in the straight, winning by two lengths over What A Shock with a long head to Styleman third.
