Who to bet on in Round 17 for the NRL multi of the week
BETTINGSITE regulars are again counting their winnings after another successful round of multi selections.
Canterbury got the job done for us against Brisbane at odds to boost the value big time, returning us a healthy $4.78.
That is back-to-back winning multis and we think we’re onto a good thing again this week in round .
We’re looking to build some value in the opening two legs, and go a bit safer in the last pair of matches.
All odds this week are provided by Sportsbet.com.au.
Round 17 NRL multi of the week tips:
Brisbane to defeat Melbourne ($1.60)
Penrith to beat Wests Tigers ($1.62)
Canberra to defeat Newcastle ($1.10)
North Queensland to beat South Sydney ($1.23)
Combined multi value: $3.50 @ Sportsbet.com.au
Brisbane vs. Melbourne
Friday, July 1 from 7.50pm at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Two of the genuine premiership threats in 2016 clash on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.
The Brisbane Broncos are in desperate need of a win after only recording a single victory from their last five starts.
The Storm have been dynamic over the last month, losing just one match in that time frame and sit just two points shy of league leaders the Cronulla Sharks.
Despite being three games ahead of their Friday night combatants the Storm are $5 for the premiership while the fifth placed Broncos on the third line up betting at $4.75.
For the Broncos to justify being ahead of the Storm in the flag betting market they need to win their home games against similarly placed opposition and we are backing them to do just that on Friday night.
Invest on either the Broncos or the Storm and if your team leads at half time but go on to lose you get your cash back in the form of a bonus bet – up to the value of $50
Multi tip: Brisbane Broncos to win – $1.60
Wests Tigers vs. Penrith
Saturday, July 2 from 5.35pm at ANZ Stadium, Sydney
The western Sydney derby is our next match in the multi.
The Panthers currently hold the coveted eight spot on the ladder, and after a decent month after a disastrous start the Tigers are within striking distance of the finals.
The Tigers are just two games adrift of the Panthers but they are unlikely to force their way into the eight according to sportsbet.com.au, who have the Wests at $9 to play finals in 2016.
The Panthers are at $1.30 to maintain their position inside the top eight.
Penrith has experienced a good run against the Wests Tigers in recent times, and a win on Saturday would hand them their third straight win over their opponents.
We are expecting them to do just that and keep our multi rolling on.
Multi tip: Penrith Panthers to win – $1.62
Canberra vs. Newcastle
Saturday, July 3 from 2pm at GIO Stadium, Sydney
If we have made it through this far in the multi we are expecting the last two legs to be a walk in the park to add some value at short odds.
The Raiders are looking to make it six wins from five games on Sunday afternoon, and they will need to if they want to keep their top four chances alive.
Canberra is at $4 to finish the season inside the top four at sportsbet.com.au.
The Raiders are staring down the barrel of a tenth straight defeat in what could possibly be their worst ever NRL season.
Such is the dilemma that the Knights are in, most bookies have suspended betting on the least wins market as the result looks to be a formality.
We do not see any possible reason to back the Knights in this one – the Raiders should do it in a canter.
Multi tip: Canberra Raiders to win – $1.10
South Sydney vs. North Queensland
Sunday, July 3 from 4pm at Barlow Park, Cairns
A technical home game for Souths takes place in Queensland as the Rabbits and the Cowboys clash in Cairns.
The two sides were expected to be towards the top of the ladder, but their seasons have taken almost polar opposite trajectories.
The Cowboys are one of the hot premiership fancies ($4.50) and are a short price ($1.18) to finish inside the top four.
The Rabbitohs are not even expected to contend in the finals this year, and are at the huge price if $19 just to crack the top eight.
North Queensland has won four of the last five matches between the sides, including a comprehensive 44-18 victory back in round 7 of this year.
We are backing a big win to the Cowboys here to bring home our multi in style.
Multi tip: North Queensland Cowboys to win – $1.23
