Round two of the 2022 AFL season kicks off this Thursday night with a massive clash between the Carlton Blues and the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium.
The Blues stunned Richmond at the MCG last Thursday as Michael Voss marked his coaching debut in the navy blue with a victory, but he will have to pull the strings from home this weekend after contracting COVID.
Carlton livewire Jack Martin will miss this match after also entering isolation, while Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli may miss out with an ankle sprain.
The Bulldogs once again could not keep up with the Demons, losing their 2021 AFL Grand Final rematch by 26 points despite leading by over 20 points during the second quarter.

Both the Dogs of the Blues have plenty of power in the engine room, as their two midfields can easily match it with the best teams in the competition.
Although the Doggies are terrific out of the middle, their biggest asset could be Aaron Naughton inside 50, as the big forward took six marks and kicked four goals against Melbourne’s tough defence.
Carlton’s tall trio of Harry McKay, Charlie Curnow and Tom De Koning managed only one goal between them against Richmond last week, yet the Blues still won the match and scored over 100 points.
The Blues have plenty of goalkickers around the ground, especially in their midfield, with the likes of Patrick Cripps, Adam Cerra, George Hewitt and Matthew Kennedy all hitting the scoreboard in round one.
Key matchup: Josh Dunkley vs Patrick Cripps
Josh Dunkley and Patrick Cripps are two of the best big-bodied midfielders in the AFL, so this should be a ding-dong battle. Cripps was stunning in round one with a best-on-ground performance which included 30 disposals and three goals. Dunkley was not quite as impressive but still put together 29 touches and five tackles. Dunkley collected a career-high 41 disposals in his last clash against Carlton, and he is likely to spend plenty of time around the ball this week while Bontempelli carries his sore ankle.
Western Bulldogs vs Carlton match predictions
We were blown away by the effort the Blues put in last Thursday night, as they managed 100 points despite their forward line kicking only six of their 14 majors. Carlton’s confidence should be through the roof heading into this contest at Marvel Stadium, where the Baggers may pinch another upset.
Carlton +9.5
Western Bulldogs vs Carlton disposal tips
Josh Dunkley is a machine when he gets time in the midfield, so we cannot look past him in the disposal betting at Sportsbet given the Bontempelli situation. Dunkley loves a hard contest and should thrive in the matchup against the Blues, who he has collected over 35 disposals against twice throughout his career.
Josh Dunkley 30+ disposals
Western Bulldogs vs Carlton AFL same-game multi
The Blues should do enough to cover the line in this clash, especially with Patrick Cripps and Adam Cerra firing in the midfield. Matthew Kennedy looks a good shout to hit the scoreboard for the second consecutive week, while Josh Dunkley should rack up bulk disposals for the Bulldogs.
Carlton +9.5 / Dunkley 30+ disposals / Kennedy anytime goal
