West Indies v Australia match preview – Second T20I

Australia will look to go 2-0 up in their T20I series against the West Indies when the two sides return to Kingston’s Sabina Park this Wednesday (AEST).

The visitors proved too good when these sides clashed on Monday at the same venue, with Cameron Green (51 off 26) and debutant Mitch Owen (50 off 27) starring as they chased down 189 with three wickets to spare.

The hosts will be disappointed not to have put up a much bigger total, as they were sitting pretty at 4/183 with two overs to bat before Ben Dwarshuis (4/36) claimed three wickets in four deliveries to destroy their momentum.

There is, however, no denying that the West Indies took a liking to Australia’s second-string bowling attack early, and they may fancy their chances of finishing the job at the second time of asking.

Regardless, the best cricket betting sites have the home side as $2.28 to make it two from two in Jamaica.

West Indies T20 team news

Jamaican fans will wave goodbye to veteran allrounder Andre Russell, who is set to retire from international cricket after one last T20I at his home ground. With that change looming for the third game of the series, expect an unaltered side this time.

Australia T20 team news

It’s hard to see the Aussies making any changes after one successful outing, but there may be one or two players on notice. Opening bat Jake Fraser-McGurk is yet to justify his latest call-up, while Cooper Connolly has yet to contribute much on the international stage.

West Indies v Australia betting predictions

Can the West Indies do it for ‘Dre Russ’? The hosts should have cleared 200 easily in the first game, while their bowlers made decent inroads into the Aussie batting order as well. The tourists are deserving favourites with online bookmakers, but there is solid case for taking the West Indies to win at $2.28 odds.

Cameron Green finished the recent Test series as arguably the form batter in the Australian lineup, and that certainly showed in the opening T20. Coming off a quickfire half-century, the $5.40 at BlondeBet is good value for Green to top score for the Aussies again.

The West Indies’ top order looked in fine form on Sunday night, and while it was Shai Hope and Roston Chase who did the bulk of the damage, Shimron Hetmyer caught the eye as well. His 38 came at a strike rate of 200, and with T20 cricket betting sites paying around $5.75 for Hetmyer to top the scoring the Windies this time, it’s worth a play.
