Week on the Punt: Will Tuscan Queen reign supreme at Ascot?
The Perth racing schedule is winding down, the Australian golf season has just kicked off and there is basketball all over the place. Here’s a few sport and racing events to keep an eye on over the weekend.
Tuscan Queen hot favourite for $1m Kingston Town Classic
Named after the famous Australian horse that won the race in 1982, the Kingston Town Classic is the last of three $1,000,000 Group 1 races to take place during the Ascot Racing Carnival.
The Tuscan Queen is the runaway favourite at $2.60 with Sportsbet.com.au, while Best Of Days holds the second line of betting at $9.50. Also in the mix at $10 for the win is Regal Power, which won the Railway Stakes a fortnight ago.
The Velvet King ($31) was highly liked for the Railway Stakes but didn’t succeed, along with many of the other horses in this weekend’s 1800m run.
NBL heats up with massive top-end clashes
If you still don’t think the NBL is a competitive and exciting brand of basketball, think again.
The gameday atmosphere in the Aussie competition is comparable to many of the biggest leagues around the globe, especially with stars like Casper Ware and Andrew Bogut combining for the Sydney Kings.

The Kings are the best team in the NBL by a long way. Boasting an impressive 11-1 record before the start of Round 10, they will face the Perth Wildcats and Cairns Taipans this weekend.
The game of the round, however, will see the third-placed South East Melbourne Phoenix battle the second-placed Wildcats at Melbourne Arena on Sunday.
NBA Championship contenders face off in Milwaukee
You must keep an eye on the American big league this weekend as two of the most exciting teams face off for the second time this season.
The Milwaukee Bucks will host the Los Angeles Clippers in a match filled with superstars. If Giannis Antetokounmpo breaks out on offence, the Clippers will find it hard to hold down the Bucks.

ESPN viewers can also catch the 12pm clash between the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics, followed by the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers at 2:30pm.
All told, those three fixtures feature five of the top eight teams in Bet365’s NBA outright betting market. The Clippers ($4) and the Lakers ($4.25) lead the way, with the Bucks not far behind at $5.50.
Adam Scott a long way back at 2019 Australian Open
The 2019 Emirates Australian Open commenced on Thursday, December 5 at The Australian Golf Club, which took a few scalps in the first round.
A poor start for Adam Scott saw him plummet from $7.50 outright favouritism to $101 in the live betting despite a second round of 67. He has esteemed company in the middle marches of the leaderboard, with Abraham Ancer (E) and Sergio Garcia (+2) also struggling.

Louis Oosthuizen (-8) set the early pace in Sydney, but England’s Paul Casey stormed to the top of the leaderboard with a 65 on Friday to hit the weekend at nine under the card.
Online bookmakers have Casey and Oosthuizen as the men to beat, while Matt Jones looms as Australia’s best bet.
