Vadamos to shuttle to Rich Hill Stud in NZ

The recently retired Vadamos will stand the southern hemisphere season at New Zealand’s at Rich Hill Stud.

A Group One winner in France for trainer Andrew Fabre, Vadamos finished fourth in the Cox Plate and was fourth again in the Emirates Stakes during the Melbourne spring carnival.

With the support of a group of New Zealand breeders, Rich Hill has acquired a 50 per cent share in Vadamos who will shuttle from his northern hemisphere home at Tally Ho Stud in Ireland from 2017.

Vadamos is by German-bred Monsun, the sire of three of the past four Melbourne Cup winners – Protectionist, Fiorente and Almandin.

“Vadamos is a magnificent individual with a race record to match. He’s arguably the fastest and best bred son of Monsun to go to stud and we’re delighted to have secured him for Australasian breeders,” Rich Hill’s John Thompson said.

The winner of eight of his 20 starts, Vadamos claimed the Group One Prix du Moulin at Chantilly in September.

“Sir Peter Vela, of Pencarrow Stud, Greg Tomlinson, of Nearco Stud, and Valachi Downs’ Kevin Hickman are the key people in the syndicate and we’ve joined them with John Camilleri, of Sydney, who bred Winx and Vancouver, and Andreas Putsch, of Haras de Saint Pair in France, who both raced Vadamos,” Thompson said.
