Utoikamanu to leave Wests Tigers at end of NRL 2024 season
The Wests Tigers have revealed that Stefano Utoikamanu will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2024 NRL Premiership campaign.
The Sydney-based outfit confirmed the news in a brief statement on Monday morning.
“Wests Tigers prop Stefano Utoikamanu has decided to leave the club at the end of the 2024 NRL season,” the team said in a post on its official website.
“Wests Tigers wish Stefano and his family the very best with their future endeavours.”
Due to a unique clause in his contract, Utoikamanu is now a free agent for 2025 after failing to earn selection for New South Wales in this year’s State of Origin series.
While his next club is not yet known, the Canterbury Bulldogs and Melbourne Storm have reportedly shown interest in the 24-year-old forward.
It is just the latest blow in what has been a difficult season for the Tigers, who sit bottom of the NRL ladder after 21 rounds.
Only last week, English forward John Bateman left the team to return to the Super League.
Rugby league bookmakers have Wests at short odds of $1.60 to finish with the most losses this season.
