Round 10 of the NRL Premiership wraps up for Magic Round in Brisbane with the Gold Coast Titans taking on the Eels this Sunday evening. Both sides are coming off surprising wins in round nine, but who will be able to secure their second win in a row?
The Parramatta Eels have made several changes. Bailey Simonsson comes into the starting line-up for Sean Russell, Ryan Matterson returns to the side for Matt Dorey, and Andrew Davey comes onto the bench in place of Ofahiki Ogden.
The Titans have been forced to make two changes due to AJ Brimson (hamstring) being ruled out. Jayden Campbell moves into the starting line-up at fullback, bringing Kruise Leeming onto the interchange bench.
The injury to Brimson could spell trouble for the Eels, as the incoming Campbell is a huge threat with the football in hand. Also, the eight-day turnaround is a huge boost for the Gold Coast Titans and Kieran Foran, who was hobbling at the end of his return to 4 Pines Park against the Sea Eagles.
The Gold Coast should take a wealth of confidence from their last-start win over Manly, especially considering the Sea Eagles have already beaten the Eels this season. The Titans are a great value bet in the head-to-head market at $3.03 with BetOnline.
David Fifita has revolutionised his game from the tackle-busting machine he was to a consistent, hardworking second-rower deserving of a return to the State of Origin arena for the Queensland Maroons. Fifita scored his first try of 2023 last week against the Sea Eagles when he took matters into his own hands from dummy half, running over the top of Kelma Tuilagi and Ethan Bullemor.
This week Fifita will be marking up against Davey, who has been without regular first-grade football and is entering a new defensive system. He will likely be the main target of Fifita, who is a great chance of scoring his second try for the season ($3.20).
Suncorp Stadium is a ground that can often deliver entertaining and high-scoring matches, as can these two sides playing. The concern leading into the last game of the round is the state of the field, having already had seven full games played.
Weather is not anticipated to be an issue, but if the ground is loose under foot, players will struggle to play an expansive brand of rugby league. If this scenario plays out, it is hard to see this match having more than 47.5 points scored ($1.90).

The battle up front between these two alpha-male forwards could be the highlight of the weekend. A preview to one of the matchups for the upcoming State of Origin series, neither player will be wanting to give the other an advantage in the lead-up to what could be the best series in recent memory. Whoever of these two stands up on Sunday evening to nullify the impact of the other in the middle third of the field will give their side enormous confidence.
