Tips and Sportsbet bonuses for the NRL Round 8 multi of the week
Last year’s Grand Finalists, the North Queensland Cowboys and the Brisbane Broncos, sit in first and second place.
Spectacularly, the Cronulla Sharks are sitting in third after seven rounds.
The Sharks are one of only three teams under double figure odds for the premiership, and the only team outside the state of Queensland under a $10 quote.
Cronulla is $8.50 at Sportsbet.com.au to win its first ever NRL premiership in 2016.
The NRL have put together a huge ANZAC weekend of footy, and we have put together a multi from those games and found our readers some fantastic value for the upcoming round.
All odds this week are provided by Sportsbet.com.au, which is ideal for NRL punters who are looking to open up a new account with the Aussie agency.
New customers can get their first bet with Sportsbet matched up to the value of $501.
Recommended Round 8 NRL Multi:
Canterbury to defeat Gold Coast ($1.33)
Canberra to defeat Wests Tigers ($1.42)
North Queensland to beat Parramatta ($1.38)
Cronulla to beat Penrith ($1.60)
Combined multi value: $4.17 with Sportsbet.com.au
Canterbury vs. Gold Coast
Saturday, April 23 from 3.05pm at ANZ Stadium, Sydney
The Bulldogs host the Titans on Saturday afternoon to kick off our multi this weekend.
Canterbury are just one game off second placed North Queensland, while Gold Coast need a win to stay in finals contention after losing three games in a row.
Incredibly the Titans have won four of the last five match ups against the Bulldogs, which is made to look even more insane given that Cantenbury have been premiership contenders while Gold Coast have been often not at the opposite end of the ladder.
Despite that anomaly the Bulldogs should prove far too strong for the Titans, who will stay within reach of the top-two.
Canterbury to win – $1.33
Canberra vs. Wests Tigers
Saturday, April 23 from 5.45pm at GIO Stadium, Canberra
The Raiders and the Tigers meet in the nation’s capital on Saturday afternoon, a match that neither side can afford to lose.
Canberra has been one of the most erratic sides of the 2016.
The Raiders have experienced magnificent wins over the Bulldogs and the Panthers, but those wins have been contrasted by dismal losses to the Eels and the Titans.
If they put it all together, they can be a premiership contender.
The Tigers were not expected to make a big impact this season, but after only registering two wins from the opening seven rounds, the knives are out.
The Raiders have been terrific for the most part at GIO Stadium this season and they should be far too strong for the bottom-four Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Canberra to win – $1.42
North Queensland vs. Parramatta
Saturday, April 23 from 7.35pm at 1300SMILES Stadium, Townsville
The reigning premiers North Queensland host Parramatta on Saturday night for the third leg of our multi.
The Cowboys have continued their terrific form from last season into 2016, only dropping two games so far this season to remain inside the top-two.
The Eels were one of the pre-season buzz teams of the year, and despite getting beaten by the Broncos in the opening round of the season, they have to lived up to the hype, dropping just one game since.
The winner of this match has the ability to join the Broncos at the top of the table by the end of the round.
Parramatta should put up a huge fight against last year’s winners, but ultimately the Cowboys should have too much in the tank for the Eels and should remain inside the top-two.
North Queensland to win – $1.38
Cronulla vs. Penrith
Sunday, April 24 from 4.05pm at Shark Park, Sydney
Cronulla and the Panthers lock horns at Shark Park on Sunday afternoon for the last leg of our multi, in what also looms as the match of the round.
The Panthers are coming off their best win of the season in torrid conditions against the Dragons on Monday night, putting in a huge defensive effort to win by four points.
The Sharks have been brilliant in 2016 and currently sit in third position on the ladder.
Last time out they absolutely hammered the Raiders in the nation’s capital 40-16 to register their fifth win of the season.
Cronulla look to be great value at $1.60 this week and loom as the perfect way to add some value to our multi.
Expect the Sharks to tame the Panthers on Sunday evening to round out our multi in style.
Cronulla to win – $1.60
