There is still room in the NBL Finals for the Sydney Kings if they can knock off Melbourne United this Saturday at Qudos Bank Arena.
Sitting in fifth position on the NBL ladder, the Kings have to win more of their remaining games than the fourth-placed Illawarra Hawks if they want to participate in the playoffs, while Melbourne United can lock in a first-place finish if they close out the season in good form.
Victoria is now in a snap-lockdown after a cluster of COVID cases, but this match has not been affected given it will take place in Sydney.
These two sides have played against each other three times this season, with United winning twice and the Kings claiming a 28-point victory at Qudos Bank Arena.
Can the Kings clinch their second victory against Melbourne on their home court this Saturday, or will the visiting side trump them in preparation for the NBL Finals?
Sydney Kings vs Melbourne United betting tips
Melbourne United to win by 1-10 points
Melbourne has won 13 of its 16 away matches this season, the best conversion rate in the league to this point. Although the Kings did knock off United back in round 16, we cannot see them pinching another upset so close to the NBL Finals. It will be a close game, but the top side will salute.
Melbourne United by 1-10 points
Chris Goulding to score 20+ points
Casper Ware is an excellent defensive point guard for the Kings, but he cannot match Chris Goulding for height. Goulding is a talented shooting guard that can easily make shots over smaller opponents behind the arc, averaging over three triples per game this season. Since the Kings have failed to effectively defend opposition guards this season, Goulding should have no trouble putting up points this weekend.
