Slipper duo to trial in Queensland
The Tony Gollan-trained Outback Barbie and stablemate Ef Troop will trial before heading to Sydney.
Queensland’s Golden Slipper hopefuls Ef Troop and Outback Barbie will have a final hit-out beore heading to Sydney but the venue is yet to be finalised.
Trainer Tony Gollan is keen to take Ef Troop and Outback Barbie to Sydney after they showed they were up to top class in the Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic at the Gold Coast on January 13.
Outback Barbie was third in the Millions after striking early trouble and Ef Troop went far too hard early before finishing fourth.
Both horses have had a freshen-up and came back into Gollan’s Eagle Farm stables on Monday.
“I am happy with them but they will need a solid hit out before going to Sydney,” Gollan said.
“They will be ready to trial or jump out next week but the only place with trials is the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday week (February 27).”
“Unless I can get jump-outs at Eagle Farm or Doomben I will have to go there. It is no worry as they are seasoned travellers but if we can get something in Brisbane we would stay here.”‘
Outback Barbie and Ef Troop will travel to Sydney the week after and will be stabled at Randwick.
“Ef Troop is being earmarked for the Todman Slipper trial on March 10 and Outback Barbie for the Riesling Stakes the same day,” Gollan said.
“They would obviously have to race well to press on to the Golden Slipper (March 24).”
Ef Troop is currently $26 in the Slipper markets and Outback Barbie is at $51.
