Sixers v Renegades BBL match preview
Match two of the Big Bash League takes place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday night with the Sixers hosting the Melbourne Renegades.
The visitors recruited heavily through the off-season and their selections in the draft, yet they will be without their biggest recruit: Quinton de Kock. He will be joined by Nathan Lyon on the sidelines, while Nic Maddinson is scheduled to return from injury.
The Sydney Sixers expect Steve Smith, Josh Philippe, Moises Henriques, Hayden Kerr, James Vince and Sean Abbott to don the magenta on Friday, which should bring a strong start to the season. Without their star South African import, the Renegades will struggle to take down the Sixers in Sydney, with the home side paying $1.65 for the win.
Sixers captain Henriques is one of the best batters in the BBL when it comes to understanding and adapting to the conditions in the middle. He can get easy ones and twos around the field and find the boundary regularly, making him a great value bet to lead the home side in runs scored ($7).
Jake Fraser-McGurk has begun showing his ability in domestic cricket, with the highlight of his season so far being his 125 from 38 balls for South Australia against Tasmania in a one-day match. Should he see any time at the crease in this match, he will pass 20 runs in the blink of an eye ($1.75).
With Afghani spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman already in the squad, Adam Zampa’s addition to the Renegades makes them an even more dangerous bowling attack. Zampa showed throughout the recent Cricket World Cup that he is one of the game’s most reliable white-ball spin bowlers. On form, he is a decent bet to take three or more wickets on Friday night ($4.20).
