Wimbledon 2024: Sinner v Medvedev preview
World No.1 Jannik Sinner takes on No.5 seed Daniil Medvedev in the Wimbledon quarter-finals this Tuesday in what may be one of the most interesting clashes of the tournament so far.
Sinner came into Wimbledon as one of the tournament favourites at tennis bookmakers. He is living up to the odds, having dispatched Yannick Hanfmann, Matteo Berrettini, Miomir Kecmanovic and Ben Shelton so far.
The Italian has dropped just two sets and has looked his usual dominant self. It is no exaggeration to say 2024 has been the year of Sinner, with four titles and 42 wins already for the 22-year-old.
Medvedev has also dropped just the two sets at SW19.
The world No.5 raced through the first round against Aleksandr Kovacevic before facing firm challenges from both Alexandre Muller and Jan-Lennard Struff.
Most recently, however, he received a reprieve when No.10 seed Grigor Dimitrov retired injured after just eight games of their round-of-16 clash.
Medvedev brought strong form to Wimbledon, despite a title drought dating back almost a year now. He is 32-9 for the year, with finals in Melbourne and Indian Wells.

Wimbledon 2024: Sinner v Medvedev betting predictions
The last time these two met in a Grand Slam, it was in the final of the Australian Open.
Medvedev tore out to a 2-0 lead before Sinner clawed his way back into the match, winning in five sets to claim his maiden Grand Slam.
In that match, Medvedev adopted a wildly different style of play, standing up on the return of serve and rushing into the net with far more regularity than usual. Can he produce something similar in this clash?
Expect to see plenty of innovation from the Russian. He leads the pair’s head-to-head record 6-5 but has lost the last five meetings in a row.
Medvedev will know that mixing things up very nearly worked last time they played. With a good chunk of time to both rest and prepare strategically, you can count on him coming out with something interesting on Tuesday.
His odds of $4.33 to win are tempting, but it doesn’t feel like a safe bet. Instead, wager on Medvedev to come out of the blocks firing, with Sinner again hauling him back in and winning the match.
