Sharks v Dolphins match preview
Round 15 of the 2024 NRL season kicks off on Thursday night in Cronulla as the Sharks host the Dolphins in an intriguing top-four battle.
Following their win over the Broncos in Brisbane last round, Craig Fitzgibbon’s men enter as short-priced favourites at $1.38 with Bet365.
While that result at Suncorp Stadium snapped a two-game losing streak, it also took Cronulla’s record to 10-3 for the season.
The Sharks have Nicho Hynes back in the halves after he was rested following last week’s State of Origin opener, while second-rower Braden Hamlin-Uele returns via the bench. Daniel Atkinson and Tuku Hau Tapuha drop out.
The Dolphins come into round 15 as $3.35 outsiders with Neds after copping two narrow defeats before their round 14 bye, most recently losing to the Raiders in extra time.
While they remain in the top four, a loss this week could push Wayne Bennett’s side out of the eight altogether if the Roosters, Broncos and Dragons all win.
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Felise Kaufusi return for the Dolphins after missing the Canberra clash due to Origin I, while Kodi Nikorima slots back in at five-eighth as captain. Trai Fuller and Anthony Milford make way, with Mark Nicholls shifting to the bench.

Sharks v Dolphins predictions
The Sharks have been unpredictable in recent weeks, but a fit Hynes at halfback should help to steady the ship. On the other hand, the Dolphins look a harder side to beat with their star fullback on deck once more. Cronulla should do enough to win at home, but the Dolphins can at least make it interesting and cover the +8.5 line at $1.91 odds.
Fresh off a dazzling hat-trick in Queensland’s Origin win, Tabuai-Fidow is the obvious danger-man for the Dolphins. ‘The Hammer’ has scored in every game he’s played since returning from injury in round 11, and online bookmakers are giving us a great price at $3.60 for him to grab two or more tries against the Sharks.
It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Cronulla’s Braydon Trindall with his superstar halves partner out of the side, but that hasn’t halted his scoring output. The 24-year-old has managed tries in each of his last three outings at PointsBet Stadium, and the top NRL betting sites are paying $3.25 for him to add to that tally.
